The first and only olympic games held in the Netherlands was in 1928. Dutch athlete Fanny Blankers-Koen (1918-2004), nicknamed The Flying Housewife, won four gold medals at the 1948 London Olympics and broke no fewer than 12 world records and fifty-seven national records in her career.
